RENE GUAJARDO (1933 - 1992)
Also known as Copetes Guajardo (Pompadour Guajardo) due to his striking Pompadour hairstyle, was a professional wrestler. At the tender age of 16, Guajardo embarked on a journey to become a professional luchador. Initially, he wrestled as a técnico (good guy), but in 1957, after witnessing the charismatic yet formidable Karloff Lagarde wrestling as a rudo (bad guy), Guajardo decided to embrace the rudo persona as well. Remarkably, René Guajardo and Karloff Lagarde would eventually become close friends. During the golden age of Mexican Lucha Libre films, Guajardo graced the silver screen in four Lucha Libre action films. These films, often low-budget and reminiscent of B-movies, showcased Lucha Libre heroes battling a diverse array of fantastical villains, including monsters, zombies, and vampires.
