Mexican Luchadores Action Figures
The Original Hand-painted Mexican Luchadores
The collectible figurine is an injected plastic reproduction of the original wooden sculpture created by artist Mario González Márquez around 1950. His son, Fernando González, uses the original mould to reproduce these retro toys, thus perpetuating the artist’s legacy. The affordability of these toys at the time and the popularity of mid-century Mexican wrestler films, which featured these real-life superheroes, made these figures one of the most recognisable icons of Mexican popular culture.
Manufactured in Mexico, plastic injection moulding, using the sculptor's original mould, and hand-painted in New Zealand by Kemelyen artist.
